I’m a portrait photographer with a good amount of experience but just starting to do weddings and this book is great. It really gives you a feel for a wedding and a good general plan to shoot most weddings. The photography is solid as well and it’s a complete package on how to shoot a wedding. It doesn’t go too much into marketing as some of Bambi Cantrell’s books and you do need a solid technical foundation to get the most out of it. If you are a photographer looking to shoot weddings, this is a great book on how to do that.

An excellent read for someone who is looking for a no nonsense mechanical approach to photographing a wedding. There is not a whole lot of technical lighting or posing stuff here. There are plenty of other books dealing with such subjects. It is straight “this is what you need to do, this is what to look out for and this is the usual sequence.” Just what I was looking for.

Photography has been my hobby for the last 30 years and I want to keep it a hobby. Most of my work is in wildlife photography and involves hours of sitting in the middle of nowhere in a blind. When I opened my big mouth and told my daughter I would shoot her wedding, I had no idea were to start. This book answered all my questions and gave me a lot of ideas where to start and what to shoot. My main concern was lighting and what lenses to use. The book answered these questions and also answered my questions on what to shoot.

I am not a professional photographer, but I occasionally get asked to shoot a few pictures at family events. I wanted to get better results and some inspiration for lighting and posing. This book takes you through the whole process of a wedding shoot; from meeting with the bride and groom before the event to dressing, the ceremony, and the reception without getting too bogged down in details. I found the photographs to be more inspirational than the text, but that’s really what I was looking for anyway.

Loved this book! Beautiful images with quick, easy to understand information on how Damon captured them, including composition, camera settings, poses to think about, ideas and inspiration about how to get beautiful, out of the ordinary shots, “money” shots and tips from an established pro (Damon). Great book! I’m not a wedding photographer but wanted to get some great shots for a friend and this book was very helpful. I’ll continue reading and practicing using the tips in this book.
