Book is a little vague and general. Does not go in deep into techniques. Sample photos are ok… just ok. Some of them even look outdated.
If you can afford it, buy GLEN Johnson’s “Digital Wedding Photography”. Trust me

I bought this book thinking it was written by an experienced wedding photographer, but I quickly learned after reading a little bit that he illustrated his points by using stock photography for many of the wedding images. I was glad to discover that there were tips by real wedding photographers in the book along with examples and website links to see more of their work. There is some solid information about how to take better images and I liked the examples that were used. But like I said, a lot of the wedding photography used as examples were not taken by the author of the book.

My main purpose for purchasing this book was because I knew some of the photographers mentioned and who contributed to this book via the internet, so I wanted to see what they had to say and which images they choose to place in the book and why.
I was hoping it would be more advanced and intense for the seasonal professional wedding photographer, but I found that it was directed toward beginners, those just starting out in the wedding photography business. I don’t know if this was the intention of the author or not, but that is how I read it.
I really enjoyed the quick tips section. It was my favorite section and was a nice reminder and “brush up” read.
This book is an easy read. I read it in less then ten hours (split the time in a couple of days.)
Although it wasn’t quite what I was looking for personally. I still give this book 5 stars because I think it can really benifit someone who is looking for a place to start.
There is also a section on some photoshop tips that I actually found useful as I am still learning photoshop (I use to only use film and most of what I captured was in camera.) Although I am digital now, I still do as much as possible in camera to avoid hours of photoshop, but once in awhile I do make a mistake or just want to enhance an image further, so I did find the photoshop section useful too. Its not a detailed, in depth section, but a great place to start.

Do’s and Dont’s and tips that read like a novel or magazine article for everyone to understand. Confirmations and reminders for those who already know or had an idea, yet a novice can quickly learn a whole lot of tricks that are sure to make many a nice photograph. There is a picture to illustrate every idea laid out in such a way that you just can’t forget it. If you’re new to wedding photography definitely get it. If you are not new it can boost your confidence, and you’ll learn many more technics to add. if you are old to wedding photography, it’s nice to remember and go back to the basics and secrets. I am not new to wedding photography yet I can not wait to finish reading the whole book. There is nothing like going to shoot a gig with the confidence that you know exactly what you are doing to get the best image you and camera can possibly make. In one of the chapters, Pros Share Their Secrets, Rick Sammon shares a favorite expression of his, that the sign of a true professional is that a difficult job looks easy. My feeling is that once you have the secrets in this book mastered, your job will be easy.
